I'm Justine. When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story.
I'm constantly broke and struggling to save enough money to fly to Korea to marry my future husband (see below).
This derp is my one true love. But I also love dramas, TV, music, movies, kpop and cooing over my beloved OTPs.
One day I will travel the world and do great things. In the meantime, don't forget to send the naked band boys on 30 December.
I accept all nationalities. Thank you. Xiexie. Kamsamhamnida.

Ever since I got into K-pop some time back, I've been incredibly behind on American music (and in this case, Canadian music). I was listening to my iPod on shuffle today, and was pleasantly surprised when this song popped up:

I love this album to pieces, and even though this music video is from 2 years back, I don't think I can ever tire of the song. Yes, I realise Hedley has since released a new album, and no, I have not listened to it nor do I plan to anytime soon. I've blogged once or twice about how much I adore Jacob Hoggard, and I love how the MV gives a little nod to his time on Canadian Idol with the scenes of him in the blue unitard (he wore the same outfit for one of his David Bowie performances on Idol years back).

I'm back from Seoul and I've summed up my week there in a Tumblr post no one will read (lol I don't know why I bother really) so I won't do it here. Instead, let me just use this space to spazz about this drama I started watching yesterday. I haven't been catching up on the 101 dramas I started since I finished school since I was so busy with work (I've still got Padam Padam, Rooftop Prince, The King 2 Hearts, Can You Hear My Heart and K-pop the Strongest Survival to finish) but I couldn't resist starting Queen In Hyun's Man today. I've seen gifs floating around on Tumblr and I've always meant to pick it up once I was done with all the other shows since I've heard such good things about it. I wasn't feeling particularly inspired about the current batch of shows I was supposed to continue and I've always liked Yoo In Na (can you believe the girl is 30 years old?!), so I thought "hey why not?"

And now a 9-episode marathon later... I have so much feels for this show I need 10000 buckets just to contain them all and another 10000 for my tears before I drown in them. The lead couple is just pure perfection I can't even begin to describe. Their chemistry is so adorable and the way they look at each other UGH /melts I shall attempt to summarise the plot but I'm sure you'll have better luck trying dramawiki or one of those sites because I am physically incapable of being coherent in this state ok /typing through my tears right now/ lol ok I kid but anyway, it's about this scholar, Kim Boong Do, (played by the fantastically underrated Ji Hyun Woo) who supports the reinstatement of Queen In Hyun during the Joseon times when a concubine Jang plotted and schemed her way to replacing In Hyun as King Sukjong's queen consort. Boong Do was then given a talisman for protection but when he was close to being killed by an assassin, he was suddenly transported 300 years into the future in modern Seoul, which is where he meets a rookie actress, Choi Hee Jin (played by Yoo In Na), who's just landed her first lead role as Queen In Hyun in a TV drama. He later deduces the mechanics of the talisman - which is basically he has to recite the words on it to go back to his time, and be put in a life or death situation during that time so that it can save him by bringing him to the future. So that's how he travels back and forth with the intention of seeing what he can find out in the future in order to assist in the reinstatement of Queen In Hyun and bring his entire family to justice back in his own time. And since Yoo In Na's character was the first and only person he met in the future, she's in charge of sort of being a teacher to him and helping wherever he can. (I wouldn't be able to say no to him either, you can totally see it in her face whenever he smiles at her - she literally melts)

Yeah, well, I tried. What I love about the leads is that their relationship is so simple and besides the fact that they're 300 years apart, it's quite a mutual "I like you", "You like me" kind of relationship. And omg how much do I love Boong Do? What a wonderful, wonderful male lead. He's intelligent, but not arrogant, good-looking, but not drop-dead gorgeous. I love how quickly he adapts to modern times, but in a wholly believable way. He uses logic a lot of the times and it's just incredibly impressive. Hee Jin is an adorable counter too to his slightly more serious personality. Yoo In Na isn't the best actress ever or anything, but she's really easy to like and root for. And unlike a million other dramas, you can actually see the building attraction that the lead couple have for each other, and there's a lot more showing rather than telling, when usually it'll be like "I think I'm falling in love with you" and we're all supposed to believe it because it's the ~natural progression in the drama or whatever and they're the leads, even though all along they haven't been doing things that lets me believe that they could even be close to being in love with each other. Honourable mention goes to the second male lead Han Dong Min (played by Kim Jin Woo) who's Hee Jin's ex who dumped her 3 years ago on his way to super stardom. He is just wonderfully cocky, and childish, but in an endearing way - a character type that a lot of dramas need to inject a little humour into some of the scenes.

And of course English subs would only be up to episode 9 - literally the most nail-biting episode out of them all. It was so angsty, even though, admittedly, it was more angst on my part. Ugh the separation period always sucks, especially when it's done so well. It's like "it hurts, but it hurts so good" if you even know what I'm talking about at this point. It's just I want so badly for the two of them to be happy but that's not going to work when /spoiler/ one of them loses his memory and another one of them thinks she's going crazy /sobs/chokes/weeps/cries/screams/pulls hair out/throws laptop out the window /endspoiler/ I'll probably stop rambling, but oh my god, this is the same level of infatuation that I had with Sungkyunkwan Scandal when it was airing, but I can objectively (psh yeah right) say that Queen In Hyun's Man is done a lot better, and the lead couple is so much more beautiful, perfect, wonderful, amazing, I can't even right now ok bye.

Music: Rock n Roll - CNBLUE

I'm feeling pretty happy because I just bought this backpack online for $30++. And I'm pretty sure it's worth much, much more than that too.

...Oh? It's the same one that Daehyun has? Oh hahahaha of course I didn't know that! What a coincidence! We must really be soulmates, truly!

*cough cough*

I just came back yesterday from my trip to Genting and it was okay, I guess. Besides the rare opportunity to don my fluffy Uniqlo jacket and our nightly ventures to coffee places that gifted me with free wi-fi, it was wholly uneventful. Okay, our second day at the theme park was pretty fun. Rollercoasters and adrenaline rushes in any way, shape, or form are always, always welcome. I'm practically foaming at the mouth just thinking about Lotte World in Korea and Disneyland (FINALLY!!!!) in Hong Kong (yeah, I know, but still).

In other news, I can't wait to get my hands on my EAR FUN (lol whut) and IGNITION albums when Rachel gets back, and also ogle the beautiful B.A.P spread in Elle Girl. *______* Thank you I love you forever and ever all the fried chicken for you~
